Children aged 0–12 and their families can take part in two-to-three-hour, play-based learning sessions led by at least two staff. The mobile playgroup serves Bourke township, Louth, Enngonia, Wanaaring and surrounding areas, while giving parents, grandparents and carers time to connect. PCYC Bourke

Busy Hands — Creative Kids

Bourke War Memorial Olympic Pool Complex

The council-operated seasonal pool offers child admission and family season-ticket options. The 2026–27 season is scheduled to open on 26 September 2026. The published family season ticket is $180 for two adults and two children, and children aged two and under enter free. Pool contractor enquiries can be made on 0400 234 911.

Bourke Primary and Community Health Centre — Child and Family Health Services

Families can discuss concerns about a child’s growth or development and obtain referrals to relevant health professionals. No referral is needed to approach the service, located at 26 Tarcoon Street, Bourke. Phone (02) 6870 2701.

Bourke Aboriginal Health Corporation Service — Children’s Allied Health

Aboriginal children aged 0–8 can access free speech pathology and occupational therapy. Support covers communication, swallowing development, daily-living skills, motor development and sensory challenges. Monthly audiology for children and adults includes hearing assessments and parent guidance. Contact BACHS on (02) 6872 3088.

Bourke Primary and Community Health — Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service

AMIHS supports pregnant Aboriginal women, their families and community through pregnancy until the baby is eight weeks old. Care includes support for health during and after pregnancy and monitoring the baby’s growth. A doctor’s referral is not required; phone the Bourke service on (02) 6870 8883.

Mission Australia — Family Preservation Service Bourke

This voluntary, trauma-informed service supports families with children and young people aged 0–18 through case management, parenting programs, home visits, practical assistance and stronger family or community connections. Self-referrals are accepted, along with referrals from community organisations or DCJ. The Bourke location is 29C Richard Street; phone (02) 6884 8526 or 1800 951 123.

Legal Aid NSW — Family Law Service for Aboriginal Communities

This Aboriginal-led statewide service visits Bourke and provides outreach, early-intervention support, and legal and non-legal assistance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children involved in, or at risk of entering, family law or care and protection matters.
